Competence: Latin is a complex language to learn. People who attend schools specializing in the teaching of this language have to go through extensive training involving the reading of political, religious, and literary texts, as well as the scholarly analysis of textual traditions and historical development. Furthermore, the grammar and sentence construction are rather challenging.

The peculiar terminology and expressions of this language are not readily absorbed in an everyday type of discourse. Therefore, it cannot be easily translated into a modern language.

A qualified translator will know how to maintain the tone and style of the original text.
